The Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was produced since 1930. It was developed for a hidden carriage. The engineers from Walther reduced the length, width and weight. The main difference to the PP is the frame with no back strap. this function was integrated in a single molded Grip. Also the grip was shortened, so the clip has only a capacity of 7 rounds. The shortness was balanced with a magazine-shoe on the bottom.
I am picking up later this evening a Walther PPK/S. The information I have now is, gun comes with factory box and documentation. Gun looks good from the couple of photos I have received. Serial number is 175319. There are no letter prefixes or after the serial number. Small correction to number sequence, in March 1970 I bought a 35D/L serial number 396394, so would suggest number 400000 to be late 1970/early 71. HTH Alec Firstly a request for any more Walther numbers to fill in some of the gaps.
- An evolution of the classic PPK, the PPK/s maintains the timeless features, essence and the elegance of the original with an additional extended grip allowing for added capacity and improved ergonomics. Walther’s industry-leading innovation takes the spotlight with their PPK model handguns.
- Seeing as his serial number start with 030xxx and the earliest serial number to date is 031xxx with a date of 1-28-1983 on that site, he's most likely got a circa 1981-82 PPKS. That's assuming serial numbers progress sequentially with date made. Too bad Interarms didn't keep better records of serial number to date made.
The PPK and the PP were also produced very successfully after war. Even James Bond had an Walther PPK.
